The Difference You Make:
As a Sr Associate in Risk Modeling, you play a critical role in strengthening the Company’s model risk management program by ensuring quantitative models are conceptually sound, well-governed, and aligned with regulatory expectations and industry best practices. You contribute expert insight into market conditions, emerging risks, and future trends while promoting a strong risk culture and helping the organization proactively identify, manage, and mitigate model risk across the enterprise.
Position Summary
Lead and execute model risk management activities and projects in alignment with the Enterprise MRM framework, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.
Develop and enhance methodologies, tools, and approaches for identifying, assessing, and managing model risk across interest rate, liquidity, credit, and market risk models.
Evaluate model conceptual soundness, key assumptions, data integrity, and overall design to ensure models are fit for purpose.
Perform independent testing of models, including numerical, statistical, and computational accuracy, outcomes analysis, and review of governance and control processes.
Proactively identify gaps, weaknesses, or emerging concerns in existing processes, policies, procedures, and frameworks, and support timely remediation.
Monitor model-related activities to minimize the Company’s exposure to model risk through quantitative analysis, risk identification, and remediation efforts.
Communicate complex risk modeling topics, findings, and recommendations to senior management to improve decision-making, efficiency, and risk reduction.
Support regulatory compliance and the Company’s reputation by ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal standards related to model risk management.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience – Required.
Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field – Preferred.
Experience
9+ years of experience in model risk management covering Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, and/or Market Risk – Required.
Hands-on experience assessing and validating term structure models, prepayment models, credit loss models, Market Risk Rule models, and ALM frameworks – Required.
Demonstrated experience with stress testing methodologies and practices – Required.
Strong understanding of front-to-back risk management processes, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, governance, monitoring, testing, and capital calculation – Required.
Working knowledge of the banking regulatory environment and its impact on risk management practices – Required.
Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects related to quantitative risk modeling – Required.
Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, or model risk remediation initiatives.
Exposure to emerging risk trends and evolving regulatory expectations within financial services.

Position Summary

AI Governance Lead
AI Governance, Committees & Use Case Management
About the Role
At Santander, we are building a world-class AI & Data organization to drive innovation at scale and impact the lives of over 170 million people globally. As part of our strategic ambition to become an AI-First bank, we are seeking an AI Governance Lead.
You will be responsible for defining and operating Santander’s AI Governance framework, ensuring that AI use cases are deployed responsibly, consistently, and in line with regulatory and internal requirements. You will play a central role in governing decision forums, managing the global AI use case inventory, and coordinating AI risk assessments across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
AI Governance & Oversight
Design, implement, and continuously evolve the Group-wide AI Governance model.
Coordinate and manage AI governance bodies, including agendas, materials, decisions, and follow-up actions.
Own and maintain the global inventory of AI use cases, ensuring completeness, traceability, and lifecycle accuracy.
AI Risk & Use Case Management
Define and coordinate AI use case risk assessments covering ethical, legal, operational, reputational, data, model, and cyber risks.
Ensure appropriate classification of AI use cases by criticality, lifecycle stage, impact, and risk level.
Act as a coordination point across Business, Data & AI, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Technology teams.
Reporting & Enablement
Define KPIs and prepare AI Governance reporting for senior management.
Support AI Adoption teams by ensuring governance requirements are embedded in delivery objectives.

Professional Experience
Solid experience in governance bodies, risk management, internal control, or technology governance frameworks. (Required)
Experience working in complex, multinational environments. (Required)
Hard Skills
Knowledge of AI governance and risk frameworks such as EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, OECD AI Principles, or OWASP. (Required)
Soft Skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

About the role

You will help to design and implement an effective AI control framework, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation through a technically grounded and pragmatic approach.
Key Responsibilities
Control Framework & Design
Define and maintain the AI control framework aligned with COSO, COBIT, NIST, and internal standards.
Design technical and operational controls across the AI lifecycle, including:
Training and validation data controls
Model explainability, robustness, and bias management
Monitoring, performance tracking, and retraining
Implementation & Assurance
Work closely with technical teams to ensure effective control implementation.
Define control evidence, testing approaches, and control metrics.
Support self-assessments, 2LoD reviews, and internal control activities.
