What you will be responsible for
As Quantitative Analyst, Assistant Vice President you will:
Perform validations on models such as market risk, counterparty credit risk and trading algo models
Interpret and apply regulatory requirements, such as Basel and CCAR, while staying current with developments in academic research, industry practices, and evolving regulatory expectations.
Analyze large-scale datasets using statistical techniques and machine learning methods to support model validation and performance assessment
Conduct quantitative analysis to evaluate and quantify model risks
Communicate with model developers and business to relay the issues and feedback and capture the action plans
Present results of model validation work to senior management and making recommendations for improvements
Job Qualifications:
MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science / Engineering, software engineering or equivalents); senior positions require 2-3 years of model validation experience in a financial services firm
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent quantitative modeling, analytical, research, and programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python, SAS, Stata, SQL)
Strong project management skills exemplified by the ability to work independently on multiple projects and meet deadlines
Salary Range:

Job Description
State Street’s Model Risk Management (MRM) function is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join its Model Validation team based in Boston, MA. The Quantitative Analyst Intern will participate in model validation to ensure model risks are correctly identified, assessed, and managed. MRM’s validation work is focused on models used to make business and operating decisions in the general areas of credit risk, market risk, securities finance, asset management, stress testing, etc. The work of Quantitative Analyst Intern will be guided by Senior Quantitative Analysts who lead model reviews.
Specific tasks performed during model reviews include but are not limited to:
Assessing model theory and assumptions as well as considering alternative modeling methods and approaches
Testing and confirming model results by using documented procedures for running models
Assessing computational accuracy by reviewing code documentation for proper model implementation, including the possible simulation of results
Review and assess model changes and conduct targeted validation on significant model changes
Assessing the integrity of data inputs
Assessing the stability and robustness of models by conducting backtesting, sensitivity testing, and stress testing
Qualifications
Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or other quantitative disciplines.
Strong analytical, quantitative modeling, and research skills.
Programming experience preferred: Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, VBA, or similar.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of financial markets and products.
Exposure to model development or model validation through coursework or prior internship experience is preferred.

In this role, you will work closely with a small team focusing on modernizing model risk management functions within a large financial institution. Proficiency in developing Generative AI and agentic AI applications, including designing, implementing, and deploying advanced AI models and autonomous agents that solve real-world problems, is required. What you will be responsible for
As a Model Risk Senior Audit Manager, Vice President you will:
Oversee execution and delivery of quantitative model review for measuring credit risk, market risk, counterparty credit risk, pricing, liquidity, stress testing, throughout audit planning, assessment and reporting phases.
Plan and oversee audits according to the Corporate Audit’s risk-based audit methodology and internal standards, industry practices and regulatory guidance (e.g. SR 11-7 on Model Risk Management, ECB guide / BaFin requirement on internal models)
Execute model risk audit strategy including assessing model inventory and model classes across the firm, developing risk-based audit plans, and performing continuous monitoring of latest internal model risk management practices and industry trends.
Review audit workpapers and issues to ensure audit procedures and conclusion on model technical details are sufficient and in line with internal standards and/or regulatory expectations.
Manage and update model team staff schedules to meet audit plan demand including proper skillsets and experience level.
Proactive development of team members, enabling the achievement of goals and objectives.
Collaborate with audit teams in Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Global Treasury, etc., to provide model risk expertise support for various business domain and risk stripes, including model governance, validation, and/or specific technical topics.
Communicate audit progress, findings, management awareness and recommendations effectively to audit senior management and provide feedback on expected remediation evidence with key stakeholders in the organization
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the operating environment of the responsible areas, including key business products / services, data and model infrastructure and lineage, key stakeholders roles, and regulatory environment.
Establish and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders across the three lines of defense and assist management in understanding and implementing / maintaining internal control principles.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or above in quantitative finance, financial engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics or a related quantitative field.
10+ years of experience in a financial institution, research agency or consulting firm, engaged in model development, model validation, auditing, quantitative research.
Demonstrated experience in review of model input data, key assumptions, code, and model performance testing to assess the key model development risks and evaluate the design and effectiveness of corresponding controls.
Demonstrated work exposure to financial services and products that State Street offers (e.g. custody, securities finance, derivatives, FX, etc.).
Demonstrated work experience to quantify or determine credit risks, market risk, counterparty risk, liquidity, pricing and/or financial crimes risks.
Working knowledge of at least one development language: e.g. R, Python and/or Matlab.
CFA and/or FRM preferred.
Additional requirements
While majority of the time you will work from your primary location, some domestic and international travel may be required to a variety of locations where State Street operates.
