**POSITION SUMMARY:** The Vice President, Model Risk Management is a critical role within the Risk & Regulatory Compliance function, primarily focused on managing and mitigating model risks within BNY. This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial models, which are essential for informed decision-making and strategic planning. The role aligns with BNY's strategic pillars by upholding risk management standards that enhance trust and transparency. By adhering to BNY's principles, the Vice President fosters a culture of accountability and excellence, ensuring that model risk management practices are robust and compliant with regulatory expectations. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Lead the development and implementation of model risk management policies and procedures by leveraging deep expertise in model validation and risk assessment. - Conduct comprehensive reviews and validations of financial models, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify model risks and implement effective mitigation strategies, enhancing overall risk management practices. - Provide expert guidance and support to stakeholders on model risk issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness. - Monitor and report on model risk exposures, maintaining transparent communication with senior management and regulatory bodies. - Drive initiatives to improve model risk management processes and tools, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the risk management function. **EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:** - Advanced degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. **EXPERIENCE:** - Typically 0-5 years of experience. **SKILLS:** - Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to assess complex models. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Proficiency in risk management software and tools.

We are seeking a future team member for the role of VICE PRESIDENT to join our MODEL RISK MANAGEMENT team. This role is located in PUNE.

In this role, you may work in one of three broad disciplines, each responsible for a different type of modelling:

1) Credit Risk Modeling (Wholesale or Retail portfolios), 2) Operational Risk, 3) Capital Stress Testing

• Execute enterprise standards for model validation, by setting the scope of a validation effort. This entails designing the tests and review activities necessary to evaluate a model.
• Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a model's conceptual framework to identify situations where a model may become less useful.
• Reviews accuracy of reports and calculations performed by less experienced colleagues.
• Responsible for the technical direction, accuracy, and soundness of quantitative methods in the assigned area. Decisions and assumptions recommended by the incumbent have significant impact on the financial and risk position of the Bank or legal entity supported. 
• Complete required training, disclosures, attestations, and certifications within deadlines.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following: 

• Master's Degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline, including engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, econometrics. 
• Strong understanding of regulatory guidance, such as SR 11-7, CCAR, Basel, CECL, etc.
• Possess a strong analytical background with a solid theoretical foundation coupled with advanced computational programming, technical documentation, and communications skills.
• Minimum 5 years (5 - 7 preferred) of modelling experience in financial services. 
• Must have experience with complex quantitative modelling, numerical analysis, and computational methods using programming languages (such as Python, Project R, C/C++, C#, Java, FORTRAN, MATLAB, SAS) as well as mathematical/statistical software packages.

• Contribute to enterprise-wide model risk management activities, including validation and/or governance work. Independent review and oversight of models used across business lines, platforms, and legal entities. 
• Collaborate with model developers, validators, auditors, and senior stakeholders to ensure models are fit for purpose and appropriately governed. Senior stakeholders extend beyond modelers to business and platform leads. 
• Drive innovation in model risk practices, including the integration of AI/ML techniques and automation tools to enhance efficiency and insight. 
• Collaborate across the MRM team to enhance model governance, validation, and risk practices. 
• Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations, particularly those outlined in Federal Reserve SR 11-7 and OCC Bulletin 2011-12, including: 
• Robust model development, implementation, and use; 
• Comprehensive model validation covering conceptual soundness, ongoing monitoring, and outcomes analysis; and 
• Sound governance, policies, and controls over model lifecycle and risk oversight. 
• Grow to represent the bank in regulatory discussions and industry forums related to model risk and quantitative analytics. 
• Contribute to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. 

• Any experience in Model Development, Model Validation, Model Risk Management, or Model Risk Audit. 
• Demonstrated interest in model governance and regulatory frameworks, especially SR 11-7 and related supervisory guidance in banking. 
• Demonstrated interest in and exposure to automation, AI, and machine learning applications. 
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking skills. 
• A degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

• Lead operation of critical, multi-disciplinary Enterprise AI Governance processes, driving streamlined decision-making, reduced cycle times, and consistent, controlled execution across governance domains.
• Support the ongoing strategic transformation of Enterprise AI Governance through control standardization and automation to improve speed, consistency, and control.
• Develop into a subject matter expert on AI Governance, advising senior leadership and key stakeholders on risks, safeguards, and strategic implications, while providing transparent progress reporting. 
   

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

• A proven track record of operating complex, multi-stakeholder processes at scale within a global financial institution, ideally incorporating governance, compliance and/or regulatory-focused components.

• Lead teams responsible for model validation, risk assessment, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee end-to-end model validation activities for high-impact, high-risk models.
• Ensure effective processes and controls for prompt risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and tracking of issues related to model risk.
• Behave ethically and adhere to BNY’s standards, including the Code of Conduct and applicable policies.
• Conduct independent testing and analysis of model performance, assumptions, and limitations.
• Document validation findings and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Demonstrate ownership and accountability for managing model risk holistically, engaging proactively with control functions.
• Serve as a role model in creating and sustaining a strong risk culture and support the development of team members.
• Collaborate with other risk, compliance, and business leaders to ensure alignment with BNY’s risk management framework and regulatory expectations.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following: 

• Master's Degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline, including engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, econometrics. 
• Possess a strong analytical background with a solid theoretical foundation coupled with advanced computational programming, technical documentation, and communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse group of stakeholders, namely, interactions with model officers, senior executives, auditors, and regulatory agencies.

• Must have experience with complex quantitative modelling, numerical analysis, and computational methods using programming languages (such as Python, C/C++, C#, Java, FORTRAN, MATLAB, SAS) as well as mathematical/statistical software packages.
