Our organization

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.

The Information Technology (IT) team is responsible for making sure that the ASC has the appropriate resources necessary to ensure the consistent, reliable and secure delivery of services, and understanding and anticipating the organization’s unique technology requirements.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Information, Data and AI, the Data and AI Governance Specialist will support the development and implementation of data policies, standards, and practices including the responsible use of AI. This role helps assess the impact of data on business processes and systems, identify opportunities to deliver new and innovative data solutions, facilitate data and data management activities as well as AI governance and risk assessments.

Key responsibilities include

Data Governance

Working with the Manager, Enterprise Information, Data and AI to lead or participate in the design and ongoing improvement of enterprise-wide governance frameworks for data, information and records.
Lead, facilitate and coordinate tactical governing bodies.
Establish and maintain standards and guidelines for data quality, security, and privacy.
Maintain comprehensive documentation on activities, decisions, and outcomes.
Collaborate with various departments on data governance objectives and standards and foster a culture of data stewardship, consistency, ethical data use, and accountability across the ASC.
Recommend and integrate governance approaches for structured data and unstructured content.
Conduct AI and data governance risk assessments to identify ethical, legal, privacy and reputational risks.
Identify and recommend KPIs and success metrics and manage governance requirements for system implementation and migrations.
Facilitate or participate in data and AI governance committees and working groups.

AI Governance & AI Risk Management

Building on the data governance framework, design and update AI governance policies, standards and processes.
Lead the development and delivery of AI literacy programming and training to support informed and responsible AI adoption.
Develop monitoring mechanisms to support oversight of AI use, compliance, and regulatory obligations.

Data Quality, Lifecycle Management, Compliance & Risk

Conduct data quality assessments and collaborate with data engineers to resolve issues.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive data catalog documenting data assets, lineage and usage and ensure accuracy of metadata.
Monitor compliance with data privacy, security, quality, and retention requirements and produce related reports, dashboards and risk summaries.
Automate applicable governance processes and data life cycle management including retention and archiving using MS Purview.

The ideal candidate will possess

A diploma or university degree in computer science, information technology, or computer engineering.
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in data management, risk management, data governance and related solutions.
A least 3 years specializing in AI governance, framework design, and solution implementation is preferred.
Relevant professional certifications are considered assets, including Microsoft Azure role-based, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), AI Governance Professional (AIGP) etc.
Strong knowledge of implementing data governance tools, metadata management and associated processes.
Direct experience with cloud services, particularly Azure and of enterprise repository, data modeling, data mapping, and data profiling tools.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence business and technical stakeholders.
Proven organizational skills, including attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and excellent critical thinking, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
Experience in change management and driving adoption of data governance practices.

* Sydney Location * Hybrid Working – 2-3 days in the office (Sydney CBD) * Parental leave cover Max-Term Contract (9 months) About the role We are seeking a senior leader to lead the enterprise Responsible AI (RAI) strategy, with a focus on embedding Responsible AI practices across the in a way that is practical and scalable. As Executive Manager, Responsible AI, you will translate regulatory, ethical and organisational expectations into clear standards, operational controls and embedded practices across the AI lifecycle. This is a strategy and execution role, requiring strong judgement, deep AI governance expertise, deep understanding the Responsible AI principle and the ability to influence senior stakeholders in a complex environment. You will operate at the intersection of AI, governance, and responsible innovation, ensuring AI is deployed responsibly, delivers meaningful customer outcomes, and contributes positively to the broader community. Key responsibilities … * Lead the design and uplift of the end-to-end Responsible AI governance framework, covering areas such as transparency, bias mitigation, explainability etc * Drive the operationalisation of policies and frameworks, embedding clear guardrails across AI development and use, including for third-party and internal AI to manage AI risks * Act as the internal SME on AI regulation and risk frameworks, translating regulatory expectations into clear, implementable technical and governance requirements (e.g. ISO42001, ISO42005, NIST AI RMF, Australian Guidance for AI Adoption) * Provide senior guidance and decisioning support on Responsible AI risks, controls and trade-offs across strategic initiatives and executive forums * Define and implement technical capabilities that enable Responsible AI by design, including evaluation, monitoring, traceability and auditability * Uplift and scale governance tooling and processes, including leveraging AI to enhance Responsible AI oversight and improve efficiency of governance activities * Lead AI use case intake, triage and preliminary risk assessments, partnering with SME and technical teams to assess risks such as explainability and ensure appropriate human-in-the-loop controls etc * Maintain core enterprise capabilities (e.g. AI inventory, monitoring and reporting) to support transparency, accountability and effective risk management * Partner with business and technology teams to ensure AI solutions deliver genuine customer value while meeting ethical and risk expectations * Act as a senior connector across multiple stakeholders to balance safety, compliance and delivery speed, and drive a cohesive Responsible AI culture * Champion ethical AI use, including initiatives that deliver positive societal and community outcomes * Develop and deliver training and organisational uplift on Responsible AI expectations and requirements Skills & experience * Demonstrated experience operating at a senior leadership level, driving enterprise-wide strategy and execution initiatives * Strong experience in AI risk, governance, compliance, legal, technology or related disciplines within a regulated environment * Deep understanding of Responsible AI principles and ability to translate them into practical, scalable controls * Strong understanding of AI technologies, how they work, associated risks and how to manage them (e.g. bias, explainability, drift, misuse) * Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes across complex, cross-functional environments * Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks and lifecycle oversight processes * Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability with sound judgement * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance. POSITION SUMMARY Bayview Asset Management is seeking a Senior Analyst, AI Governance to enhance the firm’s enterprise technology governance function. This role is responsible for assisting in the establishing and overseeing of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance framework that ensures alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, risk management standards, and operational excellence. This Sr. Analyst will oversee AI governance, model risk alignment, technology risk management, and regulatory compliance across the organization. This role serves as a key control function, partnering with IT, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, and business leadership to ensure safe, responsible, and compliant use of technology — including emerging AI and Generative AI capabilities. Master’s degree preferred Experience in AI/IT governance, risk management, or a related field, with direct exposure to AI/ML governance strongly preferred Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management in the IT domain Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration Certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, or CGEIT are highly desirable. Location and Compensation: This role can be fully remote, however if a candidate is found in the Toronto area, it is preferred. The compensation available for this role can be between $130,000 - $160,000 CAD. This range is dependent on experience. There is also a performance-based bonus structure available.
