• Architect Python microservices (FastAPI/Django, async I/O, streaming) with versioned policies, feature flags, canary and shadow deployments.
• Build evaluation framework: automated red-teaming suites, adversarial scenario generation, precision/recall/F1 dashboards, safety regression gates, latency/cost profiling, drift (content, behavior, model) detection.
• Integrate ML/NLP components (Presidio, spaCy, Hugging Face, vector similarity, custom classifiers, rule + ML ensembles, entropy and checksum validators).Productionize RAG safety: document provenance scoring, source trust tiers, citation completeness, leakage prevention.
• Implement full observability: structured audit logs, OpenTelemetry tracing, Prometheus metrics (guardrail hit ratios, decision distributions, latency percentiles), incident classification feeds.
• Harden services: authN/Z (OIDC/OAuth2, service principals), rate limiting, circuit breakers, sandboxing, secure config/secrets, runtime isolation, network policies, API contract governance.Lead Docker/Kubernetes strategy: multi-stage builds, image minimization, SBOM, Helm/Kustomize, HPA/autoscaling policies, PodSecurity, resource tuning, rollback playbooks.
• Coordinate requirements with Cybersecurity, Model Risk Management, Privacy, Compliance, Legal—translate policies into executable rules and evaluators.Run stakeholder UAT cycles: test planning, evidence collection, false-positive adjudication, iterative tuning.
• Manage vendor engagements: technical due diligence, integration interfaces, performance/SLA validation, joint solution design and escalation paths.Mentor engineering teams; establish coding standards, review protocols, architecture decision records, incident runbooks.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering. 12+ years software engineering (majority in Python) with 5+ years focused on AI/ML or content safety/security.
• Proven delivery of large-scale guardrail or trust/safety platforms for LLMs or high-risk content systems.Deep FastAPI/Django, async patterns, streaming moderation, middleware pipelines.
• Strong ML/NLP integration experience: pattern + ML hybrid detectors, evaluator services, vector stores.Kubernetes production operations (autoscaling, resilience, security hardening) and CI/CD (policy gates, security scanning, artifact signing).
• Advanced observability and performance tuning (profilers, tracing, queue/backpressure management, caching strategies).Risk & compliance alignment (MRM validation workflows, audit evidence, model governance).Vendor technical management (RFP criteria, integration architectures, SLA/perf oversight).

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $108,000.00 and $185,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. The Enterprise AI Governance Office (AIGO) within the Enterprise Advanced Analytics and AI Hub at CIBC is responsible for ensuring that all AI activities at CIBC are governed in accordance with the Enterprise AI Framework and its associated processes and standards. AIGO develops, operationalizes, and continuously improves AI governance practices to manage AI-related risks, ensure regulatory readiness, and enable responsible innovation across the bank.

About you :

You bring strong expertise in model validation and are comfortable operating in a regulatory environment. The ideal candidate should have:

• 3–5 years of experience in model validation, model risk management, or a closely related quantitative risk function within banking or asset management.

• Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics) or equivalent experience.

This critical role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust security controls for our Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) systems and their underlying platforms. The successful candidate will proactively identify and mitigate unique security risks associated with the AI/ML lifecycle, including model integrity, data poisoning, adversarial attacks, and system robustness. This is a highly technical role that will design, code and deploy AI security solutions to support our company’s AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

●  Design and implement end-to-end security controls for the entire ML/AI pipeline, from data ingestion and model training to deployment and production monitoring. This includes:

○  Security reference architectures for various AI deployment patterns, including MCP/Agentic AI.

○ Control deployment to ensure model integrity and governance, ensuring proper access control (RBAC/ABAC) to models and feature stores.

○ AI tooling to improve and automate overall cybersecurity posture across the board, including the entire incident management lifecycle, vulnerability management, 3rd party Risk, and managing emerging AI threat vectors.

●  Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to integrate security best practices into the AI development lifecycle, including secure model training, validation, and deployment.

● Support security engineers in the evaluation of AI systems being developed and implemented. Conduct threat modeling specific to AI/ML systems, identifying vulnerabilities related to data poisoning, model evasion, extraction, and integrity.

● Research and Innovate: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI security, conduct research, and contribute to the development of innovative security solutions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

● Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Information Security, with at least 1+ years focused on securing AI/ML systems. Experience in analyzing systems and identifying security and abuse problems, threat modeling, and remediation is critical in this role.

● Education (Preferred): Minimum BA/BS degree. Advanced degree (Masters, PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security, or a related quantitative field is preferred.

● Technical Expertise:

○ Deep understanding of the ML/AI lifecycle and its associated security risks.

○  Expertise in cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and services related to AI/ML (e.g., SageMaker, Vertex AI).

○ Strong knowledge of data security principles, including encryption, masking, and tokenization.

○ Deep understanding of AI specific threats, including adversarial ML, data poisoning, prompt injection and model inversion and inference attacks and associated defensive measures

○ Strong knowledge of application security architecture best practices and architecture patterns

○ Strong coding experience in AI relating languages such as Python/Go

○ Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies and AWS

● Certifications (Preferred): Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, or specialized AI security certifications.

● Knowledge of AI related security related frameworks and standards

Soft Skills:

● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts into clear requirements for both technical and non-technical audiences.

● Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams (Data Science, Engineering, Product, Cybersecurity).

● Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to emerging AI security challenges.

As an AI Governance Technical Expert, you will support ISO/IEC 42001 certification audits by providing specialized subject-matter expertise related to AI lifecycle governance, data governance, and model oversight. This is a Certification Body support role and is distinct from consulting, advisory, implementation, or audit leadership functions. Technical Experts supplement audit team competence but do not independently determine conformity, grade nonconformities, sign audit reports as Audit Team Leader, or participate in certification decisions. You will contribute structured technical analysis to audit teams evaluating AI lifecycles, including design, development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and decommissioning within SaaS and enterprise environments.
