Team description The Guild Lead Operational Control is responsible for leading efficiency and effectiveness solutions on model validation and model risk management activities across several key regulatory credit risk model domains. The Guild Lead leads high-value specialist teams facing increasing strategic challenges, driving quality, efficiency, and effective stakeholder relationships in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. Specific Function Model Risk Management (MoRM) in a nutshell; Models are an imperfect reflection of reality. Models impact our business and we use models for decision making throughout ING. We need to manage uncertainties and shortcomings in our models, as there are risks involved. Are we sure that the output leads to the right decision? Models are a great asset but come with a risk that needs to be managed. The purpose of the Model Risk Management department is to ensure the models can add business value safely. That's why we've created a cross-domain Model Risk Management Framework helping us identifying, classifying, recording and validating models we use across ING. For example, Credit, Market, KYC, Operational and Pricing models. Together with our stakeholders in e.g. Model Development and COO Risk we try to obtain the best models for ING. Job description We are looking for an energetic, naturally collaborative, and hands-on Guild Lead to support the Head of Model Validation Credit Risk. Specific Tasks and Responsibilities Act as the lead for day-to-day operations for the CRMV tribe, handling escalations and translating overall strategy into effective guidance for all chapters. Drive efficiency and effectiveness in model validation by improving automation, data lineage and quality, validation processes, stakeholder engagement, GenAI adoption, and the global operating model. Take a leading role in all strategic improvement projects within the tribe and across the stakeholder landscape. Oversee significant operating expenses (approx. €9m per year) related to IT infrastructure and data. Engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including the Head of MoRM, Head of MRO, Heads and Chapter Leads of Model Validation Tribes, Model Owners, CAS, COO, and OPS&IT. Maintain effective relationships with external parties such as the ECB, local national banks, and external auditors. Represent the CRMV tribe in the CRMV Management Team. Lead change management initiatives, driving improvements in behaviour and processes that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire tribe. Influence senior stakeholders in Model Development, Model Owners, and Tech (COOR), and prepare proposals for senior management. Support the Leadership Team in ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies, including the Model Risk Management (MoRM) framework and governance. Develop and maintain stakeholder engagement, ensuring business needs are met and effective communication is maintained. Create long-term vision plans with the Tribe Lead, incorporating modelling, tech, HR, financial, regulatory, and board expectations, and manage the progression of initiatives to create impact. Efficiently allocate work by steering model validators, other chapter leads, and product owners, maintaining high-quality deliverables. Spot upcoming impediments and contribute to setting the tribe’s strategy and priorities. Specific Knowledge and Experience Deep technical & regulatory expertise (e.g. quantitative modelling, risk management, regulations, business), with ability to present & explain to a less technical audience. Strong expertise on IT- and data management Strong people development & leadership skills, with a learning/growth mindset. Contributing to & translating the Tribe strategy & regulatory developments into chapter improvements/deliverables (e.g. way-of-working, validation frameworks, other improvements, etc). Good stakeholder management & communication skills, flexible in approach while balancing internal priorities & regulatory expectations, thereby remaining critical, independent & keeping ground where needed.
