About your team :

Our Risk Management team is dedicated to ensuring the stability and security of our bank by identifying, assessing, and managing risks. With a strong focus on regulatory compliance, we proactively develop strategies for risk mitigation and ensure that our bank always maintains adequate capital buffers.

About your role :

In this role, you will act as an independent 2nd Line validation function, ensuring that all models used across FIL Fondsbank (FFB) are subject to a robust and consistent validation cycle. You will validate FFB’s risk model landscape, which primarily consists of simple to medium‑complexity models across several risk types (Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, IRRBB, Business Risk, Pension Risk, ICAAP, including stress testing, and EUC‑based models).

You will help to ensure that FFB maintains a robust, well‑documented, audit‑ready model environment aligned with MaRisk, CRR/KWG and internal governance standards.

Key responsibilities :

• Maintain and further enhance FFB’s Model Inventory, including risk classification and validation cycle.

• Conduct independent validations covering model purpose, data quality, methodology, implementation logic, and testing of key assumptions and outputs, while maintaining clear separation from model development and ownership

• Prepare clear, decision‑oriented validations, present results to FFB governance (e.g., Executive Committee) including model approval recommendations and use restrictions and set minimum content for Validation Reports.

• Support EUC governance, including capturing and assessing EUCs, applying control standards, and assisting model owners with compliance requirements.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of the model lifecycle processes (change management, documentation standards, decommissioning) and maintain high‑quality templates, guidance documents, and validation procedures

• Support audits and regulatory reviews conducted by BaFin, Deutsche Bundesbank, and Internal Audit.

• Support a good model risk culture through guidance and collaboration with 1st line model owners

About you :

You bring strong expertise in model validation and are comfortable operating in a regulatory environment. The ideal candidate should have:

• 3–5 years of experience in model validation, model risk management, or a closely related quantitative risk function within banking or asset management.

• Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics) or equivalent experience.

• Strong understanding of regulatory expectations for model governance, including MaRisk, CRR/KWG and EBA/ECB guidance.

• Ability to analyze and understand a broad range of model types, including OpRisk, credit, market, liquidity, IRRBB, ICAAP, stress testing, and EUC‑based models.

• Proven ability to produce high-quality documentation, meeting German supervisory expectations and communicate validation outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders.

• Hands‑on proficiency with Python (preferred) and/or R; experience with version control, reproducible analysis, and data visualization.

• Ability to exercise independent judgement and maintain objectivity in challenging model owners and stakeholders.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and German.

As a Sr Associate in Risk Modeling, you play a critical role in strengthening the Company’s model risk management program by ensuring quantitative models are conceptually sound, well-governed, and aligned with regulatory expectations and industry best practices. Position Summary

• Lead and execute model risk management activities and projects in alignment with the Enterprise MRM framework, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.

• Develop and enhance methodologies, tools, and approaches for identifying, assessing, and managing model risk across interest rate, liquidity, credit, and market risk models.

• Evaluate model conceptual soundness, key assumptions, data integrity, and overall design to ensure models are fit for purpose.

• Perform independent testing of models, including numerical, statistical, and computational accuracy, outcomes analysis, and review of governance and control processes.

• Proactively identify gaps, weaknesses, or emerging concerns in existing processes, policies, procedures, and frameworks, and support timely remediation.

• Monitor model-related activities to minimize the Company’s exposure to model risk through quantitative analysis, risk identification, and remediation efforts.

• Communicate complex risk modeling topics, findings, and recommendations to senior management to improve decision-making, efficiency, and risk reduction.

Education

The Enterprise AI Governance Office (AIGO) within the Enterprise Advanced Analytics and AI Hub at CIBC is responsible for ensuring that all AI activities at CIBC are governed in accordance with the Enterprise AI Framework and its associated processes and standards. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled AI Security Engineer to join a dynamic team of AI Security engineers in Israel. This critical role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust security controls for our Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) systems and their underlying platforms. Financial Crime Model Validation Manager

The Financial Crime Model Validation Manager is expected to lead and execute model validation testing processes on systems which support Financial Crime programs, including transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment/rating, fraud detection and watchlist screening/interdiction systems.

Responsibilities will include designing and/or updating testing strategies (e.g., creation of or enhancement to risk and control matrices) which will aid in the independent testing of these systems. • Conduct full scope model review, annual review, ongoing monitoring model performance etc. for both internally and vendor-developed models, including new and existing, statistical/ML or non-statistical models, with effective challenges.

• Evaluate model development data quality, methodology conceptual soundness and accuracy, and conduct model performance testing including back-testing, sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, etc. and timely identify/highlight issues.

Position Summary
This is a highly technical individual contributor role. The Distinguished Engineer is expected to serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor for AI security and related infrastructure security domains.

Financial Crime Model Validation Manager

The Financial Crime Model Validation Manager is expected to lead and execute model validation testing processes on systems which support Financial Crime programs, including transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment/rating, fraud detection and watchlist screening/interdiction systems.

Responsibilities will include designing and/or updating testing strategies (e.g., creation of or enhancement to risk and control matrices) which will aid in the independent testing of these systems. Key Role Responsibilities:

• Model Risk Review and Effective Challenge: You perform the validation of models, other estimation approaches and critical tool calculators and assess the model risk to confirm model appropriateness and capability for a designated portfolio. You are responsible for providing effective challenge to the credit risk models during model development and communicating decisions regarding model use to the business to ensure transparency and understanding of models and model risks. You assess the models’ capabilities, stress points and limitations; you assess the associated model risk and the controls in place to mitigate identified risks.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Effective communication is crucial in this role. You will manage relationships with model developers, owners, and users, influencing and advising on model risk-related matters. Your ability to explain complex technical concepts in everyday language will set you apart.
• Change Management: BMO is at the forefront of innovation in model risk management. You will be part of the team that drives change by embracing new technology platforms, tools, and operating models.
• Regulatory Expertise: Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies. May network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices. Interprets new regulations and assesses impacts to the program / portfolio validation framework.

What we are looking for:

• A MSc or PhD in quantitative fields such as statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, data science, actuarial sciences, electrical engineering, or related fields.
• Experience in model validation and/or development within a financial institution, particularly in the credit risk area, is a plus.
• Certifications: While qualifications like CFA are helpful, they are not mandatory.
• Experience in credit risk models, including Stress Testing & loss forecasting, AIRB and Adjudication/Account Management is a plus.
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, R, and SAS (Python is preferred).
• Proficiency in working with relational databases – SQL or Oracle.
• Working with Big data tools and Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus.

Our team values flexibility, collaboration and in-person engagement. This position is located in Toronto and offers flexibility with a hybrid work arrangement where the successful candidate will spend at least 3 days per week on-site and the other days remote.

• Independently validates / tests models and their associated assumptions, benchmarks, and supporting documentation against model vesting process, standards, guidelines and principles; assesses the data for model development as well as inputs to the model; compares validation results with model developer results for replicability.
• Identifies deficiencies, conditions for model use, recommends changes, and escalates as required; quantifies model risks, documents outcomes and communicates with stakeholders.
• Identifies where corrective actions are required and escalates per guidelines; monitors and ensures corrective action is taken.
• Provides technical advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of the model vetting framework, and resolution of model risk issues.
• Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of business and related risk management requirements and legislative/ regulatory directives and guidance.
• Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
• Monitors and tracks performance; addresses any issues.
• Coordinates and monitors the review and sign-off of model validation reporting including model inventory and model inventory attestations.

  Qualifications:

• Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of the model life cycle, model risk management practices.
• In-depth knowledge & experience with risk policy frameworks; quality control / testing frameworks.
