What is the opportunity?  

As an Associate Director, Enterprise Model Risk Management (EMRM) in our Group Risk Management (GRM) team, you will execute and document validations of the Bank’s enterprise-wide credit risk rating systems and methodologies, with focus on Wholesale and Retail credit risk systems, including acquisition & account management models, as well as Wholesale, Retail, and Margin Lending AIRB parameters (Probability of Default (“PD”), Loss given Default (“LGD”) and Exposure at Default (“EAD”)) used in both regulatory and economic capital. This is a Vice President level position within the Innovation, Platforms and Communications Compliance team, which is responsible for providing compliance advice, governance, and oversight for analytics, data, artificial intelligence, generative AI, and platforms activities within Wealth Management.

> Advise Wealth Management Generative AI and Platforms teams on AI governance, strategy, data usage, and oversight requirements.
> Review Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models and Generative AI, to assess compliance with regulatory rules related to Artificial Intelligence, Consumer Protection, Standards of Care, and Communications with the Public.
> Assess AI against heightened risk considerations, including conflicts of interest, and recommend appropriate controls and mitigations.
> Establish and support ongoing monitoring and testing controls in coordination with Compliance Monitoring and Testing teams.
> Collaborate with Policy and Training teams to draft, implement, and maintain compliance policies and training governing the use of AI technologies.
> Participate in Wealth Management, Firmwide, and Compliance governance committees and forums.
> Prepare management reporting, metrics, and dashboards to inform senior management of key initiatives, risks, and control effectiveness.
> Support regulatory inquiries, internal audits, and examinations (e.g., SEC, FINRA, Internal Audit), including remediation and post-exam action plans.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $108,000.00 and $185,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

• At least 5 years of experience in each of the following skills through education or experience:

  • Survival analysis modeling

  • Time-series analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

The Enterprise AI Governance Office (AIGO) within the Enterprise Advanced Analytics and AI Hub at CIBC is responsible for ensuring that all AI activities at CIBC are governed in accordance with the Enterprise AI Framework and its associated processes and standards. AIGO develops, operationalizes, and continuously improves AI governance practices to manage AI-related risks, ensure regulatory readiness, and enable responsible innovation across the bank.

This Senior Consultant, AI Risk Management will support CIBC’s AI risk management practices by conducting and reviewing AI risk assessments, developing effective AI risk mitigation plans in partnership with business teams and other risk control groups, and by providing AI risk advisory services to the enterprise. The position will be responsible for ensuring that all AI solutions across the organization are appropriately risk-assessed, as required by the Enterprise AI Framework. The Sr. Consultant will work collaboratively with technology and business teams, control groups, audit, and oversight bodies to ensure that all CIBC AI Governance requirements are adhered to and are effective in managing AI-related risks.

About your role :

In this role, you will act as an independent 2nd Line validation function, ensuring that all models used across FIL Fondsbank (FFB) are subject to a robust and consistent validation cycle. You will validate FFB’s risk model landscape, which primarily consists of simple to medium‑complexity models across several risk types (Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, IRRBB, Business Risk, Pension Risk, ICAAP, including stress testing, and EUC‑based models).

You will help to ensure that FFB maintains a robust, well‑documented, audit‑ready model environment aligned with MaRisk, CRR/KWG and internal governance standards.

Key responsibilities :

• Maintain and further enhance FFB’s Model Inventory, including risk classification and validation cycle.

• Conduct independent validations covering model purpose, data quality, methodology, implementation logic, and testing of key assumptions and outputs, while maintaining clear separation from model development and ownership

• Prepare clear, decision‑oriented validations, present results to FFB governance (e.g., Executive Committee) including model approval recommendations and use restrictions and set minimum content for Validation Reports.

• Support EUC governance, including capturing and assessing EUCs, applying control standards, and assisting model owners with compliance requirements.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of the model lifecycle processes (change management, documentation standards, decommissioning) and maintain high‑quality templates, guidance documents, and validation procedures

• Support audits and regulatory reviews conducted by BaFin, Deutsche Bundesbank, and Internal Audit.

• Support a good model risk culture through guidance and collaboration with 1st line model owners

About you :

You bring strong expertise in model validation and are comfortable operating in a regulatory environment. The ideal candidate should have:

• 3–5 years of experience in model validation, model risk management, or a closely related quantitative risk function within banking or asset management.

• Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics) or equivalent experience.

• Strong understanding of regulatory expectations for model governance, including MaRisk, CRR/KWG and EBA/ECB guidance.

• Ability to analyze and understand a broad range of model types, including OpRisk, credit, market, liquidity, IRRBB, ICAAP, stress testing, and EUC‑based models.

• Proven ability to produce high-quality documentation, meeting German supervisory expectations and communicate validation outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders.

• Hands‑on proficiency with Python (preferred) and/or R; experience with version control, reproducible analysis, and data visualization.

• Ability to exercise independent judgement and maintain objectivity in challenging model owners and stakeholders.
