Title: AI Risk Advisor

Role Summary:

The AI Risk Advisor serves as an embedded resource within the AI Center Of Excellence to guide the model owners in drafting proposals, preparing validation evidence, and aligning with governance standards, supporting the line of business and model owners in responsibly adopting AI. This role ensures that AI initiatives meet governance, risk and compliance standards while enabling scalable and ethical innovation.

Essential Functions:

Facilitate responsible, risk-aware AI/ML lifecycle across the firm aligning with internal standards and regulatory expectations, with a particular focus on Generative AI adoption.
Evaluate AI vendor proposals for feasibility, risk appetite alignment, data privacy, and ethical standards.
Guide team responsible for AI solutions in preparing model validation documentation, including conceptual soundness, data quality, and outcome analysis benchmarks, as applicable.
Vet the viability of execution with available tools and resources.

Assess compliance risks related to model transparency, training data provenance, intellectual property, privacy, regulatory obligations, and contractual rights.
Establish responsible AI & ML best practices aligning with risk management expectations, with a particular focus on Generative AI.
Provide hands-on support for second-line engagements including but not limited to documentation and testing automation.
Consult on enterprise AI governance including relevant first-line governing documents (e.g., acceptable use and risk appetite).
Curate and author relevant curriculum and training content for developers and business-line adopters.
Support and execute change management strategies and enterprise-wide AI acumen building.
Provide feedback on business case clarity, feasibility, and alignment with enterprise goals.

Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or Business Analytics (or related field)
5-10 years progressive related experience in risk management, model, analytics, business intelligence, data and/or AI.
Understanding of AI/ML lifecycle, model risk, and governance frameworks.
Applied research in the areas of emerging methods including natural language-driven system design, evaluation, and monitoring.
Demonstrated experience in evaluating the performance of language-based models.
Experience in vendor evaluation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $79,000.00 - $146,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.

As a key member of our collaborative Cybersecurity team, the Senior Information Security Analyst will play a critical role in safeguarding UHS and affiliates information systems. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities in our applications, guiding secure development practices, and collaborating with development teams to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Oversees the technical aspects of tasks assigned to less experienced staff or contractors on projects, systems or applications assigned. Key responsibilities include: Assists with the design and architecture of Cloud and Artificial Intelligence information security technologies within guidelines of policies, accepted best practices, and in keeping with good project management principles. Periodically reviews deployed security technologies to ensure that the solutions continue to provide the intended protection efficiently and effectively. Provides input to UHS Security Standards and Policies. Provides input into the Third-Party Security Architecture Reviews. Identifies gaps in protection and recommends solutions to remediate or mitigate the risks associated with the protection gaps. Document findings and assist in creating reports and metrics for technical and non-technical audiences. Stay current on the latest cloud and AI security trends. Works with staff at all levels in the organization, vendors and contractors to ensure protections are effective, efficient and non-disruptive to the appropriate duties, rights and mission of the individuals and the organization(s). Willing to grow into a subject matter expert (SME) for at least one technology or process and guides the efforts of 1-3 less experienced staff who assist with the assigned technology or process. Monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center. Qualifications Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Security and Risk Management, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or *10+ years of increasing technical IT experience along with professional certifications (CISSP, CompTIA Security+, AZ-500) may be substituted in lieu of bachelor’s degree. Minimum 5-8 experience within the cybersecurity field. Knowledge of at least one major cloud platform core components and basic architecture (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their shared security model. Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), multi-factor authentication and least-privilege principles in the cloud. Exposure to OWASP Top 10 and MITRE frameworks. Foundational understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle and security basics. Exposure to the DREAD or STRIDE threat modeling frameworks. Desire to grow security knowledge in cloud and AI systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a security-first mindset. Eagerness to learn rapidly in a fast-evolving field (Cloud and AI change quickly). Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management concepts or processes. Working knowledge of various regulatory security requirements – particularly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA, and HITECH. Working knowledge of common cyber security frameworks such as HITRUST, NIST, CSC20, or others. Able to plan, organize, manage and execute projects, working with other technical staff, to implement cyber and information security technologies or processes. Able to prioritize multiple tasks and be detail oriented. An information security certification is a plus -- to demonstrate proficiency and knowledge of information security best practices and concepts. Principal Duties & Responsibilities • Performs independent validations of actuarial, financial, investment, and/or predictive models • Reviews model methodology, assumptions, and documentation to ensure alignment with ASOPs, best practices, and internal model governance • Recreates model outputs using challenger models, simplified calculations, or benchmarking • Assesses data inputs for appropriateness, completeness, and transformation accuracy • Evaluates model implementation controls and change management evidence • Validates coding logic and implementation for business management software in programing languages such as SQL, R, Python, or VBA • Performs sensitivity testing, stress testing, and back testing to evaluate model robustness • Identifies model limitations, risks, and potential failure points • Prepares clear model validation reports that detail findings, issues, severity levels, and remediation recommendations • Works with model owners and business stakeholders to ask model-related questions and perform controls reviews • Presents results to Model Risk Management subcommittees and working groups • Tracks issue remediation and performs follow-up validations • Ensures adherence to internal MRM policies and regulatory requirements (e.g. SOX, BMA, NAIC) • Develops and enhances a streamlined process for model validations Total Rewards The salary range for this job is $105,000 - $140,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. This role includes leading initiatives, working closely with other teams to protect IT applications, and helping automate and implement security measures throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The engineer will also deploy tools and controls to strengthen application security. Reporting to the APAC IT team, with a dotted line of oversight from the Enterprise Product Security team, this position serves as a strategic representative for InfoSec among global application, infrastructure, and compliance teams.
