About the role

Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) have an opportunity for a Model Risk expert to join the Risk team. As a Senior Model Risk Manager, you will support the Head of Model Risk to deliver a robust group wide model validation function, establishing best practice in the design, management, validation and use of material models across the Group.

What you’ll be doing

Model Validation framework – in conjunction with the Head of Model Risk manage and maintain the Group Model Risk Framework
Subject matter expert on statistical modelling
Provide thought leadership to the Head of Model Risk, CRO and the Company Secretariat to ensure an appropriate governance structure is in place
Model Validation - provide effective challenge to model assumptions, mathematical formulation, and implementation across HL business lines
Model support – Drive stakeholder interaction with model developers and business owners during the model lifecycle
Carry out validation of specific models. Key models will include: capital, liquidity, stress testing, client insight, wealth and fund management
Be accountable for day to day activities including maintenance, regular update and accuracy of the model register and the management of the validation schedule
Assess and quantify model risk due to model limitations to inform stakeholders of their risk profile and development of compensating controls
Shape the model risk strategy, and provide expertise cross-functional initiatives within the model risk organisation
Own and present model validation findings to Accountable Executives and executive level committees

About you

Experienced delivering at a senior level, in a role with a similar governance model
Demonstrable experience of modelling for ICAAP/ICARA, Finance and Stress Testing models, modelling for wider decision-making and the core techniques within a validation role
Significant experience of providing quantitative analysis to stakeholders
Broad stakeholder management skills with an ability to lead technical experts
Operate professionally with integrity and discretion, able to manage sensitive data appropriately
Solution focused mindset – with the ability to use own experience to develop innovative solutions and resolve complex issues
Strong experience of using the outputs from modelling activity as an input to risk profile reporting
Specialist knowledge of model governance regulatory and industry best practice expectations
Good understanding of Financial Services, in particular the Wealth industry
Excel expert, in addition to significant programming skills: 'R', Python, Matlab, SAS, R, Java, Oracle and SQL
Degree level in a numerate subject. CFA qualification would be an added bonus

The interview process for this role will be a two stage interview consisting of technical competency-based questions and an assessment.

Working Schedule

The Senior Model Risk Manager role is a Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Our office is based in Bristol, BS1 5HL. Hybrid working is available where there’s flexibility to work from home and in the office.

Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Analyst II - Information Management, AI Governance. The AI Governance Analyst supports the safe, legal, and responsible development of AI/ML applications across NYU Langone Health. This role leads the intake of AI governance reviews, coordinates the review and preparation of risk reports and recommendations, supports submissions for AI/ML governance reviews, and communicates decisions. In addition, this role develops tools and processes that strengthen governance practices and lifecycle monitoring. The analyst acts as a bridge between mission areas, technical teams, and AI/ML governance at NYU Langone Health, promoting transparency, accountability, and alignment with institutional policies and national frameworks such as the NIST AI RMF and NYS-P24-001. Job Responsibilities: AI Intake & Processing - 40% Guide staff through the full lifecycle of AI/ML use case intake, including submission support, intake training, and lifecycle tracking. Support risk assessments and governance reviews by scheduling key stakeholders, maintaining intake logs, organizing use case materials, and preparing committee materials. Coordinate with enterprise teams to maintain a robust AI/ML inventory across pilot, production, and retirement phases. Ensure completeness and accuracy of intake records and documentation, leveraging automated tracking tools and, in some cases, structured data formats. Preferred: Use tools such as Python or SQL to support intake analytics, metadata quality checks, and validation readiness. Cross Functional Committee & Stakeholder Communications - 20% Serve as an AI/ML governance liaison between clinical, research, operational, and engineering teams, ensuring transparency across the full AI lifecycle. Prepare comprehensive AI/ML documentation packages for review, including use case summaries, risk triggers, evaluation outputs, and validation evidence. Support committee presentations by translating technical model details into digestible insights for diverse stakeholders. Communicate governance decisions, required actions, and timelines with clarity and accountability. Participation in Development of AI/ML Tools for NYULH - 20% Participate in document and share tools that enhance AI/ML governance, including tracking dashboards, model evaluation utilities, and monitoring templates. Monitor and maintain centralized governance systems tracking intake status, model health, and audit trails. Use technical skills (Python, SQL, JSON) to automate and scale governance functions and testing/validation methods. Partner with data engineers and domain experts to co-design training materials and technical infrastructure that promote sustainable, legal, and ethical AI use across NYULH. Controls, Benchmarking, & Monitoring Support - 20% Maintain best-practice templates and reference materials for: * Risk mitigations and safeguard implementation * Benchmarking and monitoring calculations using metrics like ROC-AUC, F1 score, and precision/recall * Calibration and drift-detection planning * Data quality and output control protocols * Algorithmic bias assessments Collaborate with data science and informatics teams to integrate monitoring logic using Python, SQL, or R. Provide operational support for annual reviews, model audits, and subgroup performance assessments. Apply familiarity with evaluation methods and NIST AI RMF to ensure risk model oversight. The senior tester executes assessments with full autonomy, owns the technical relationship with client security and engineering leadership, mentors mid-level engineers and OSOC analysts, and is the recognized internal authority on offensive AI/ML testing methodology, tooling, and threat modeling. Typical Experience: 5–8+ years of offensive security experience with a deep concentration in web application and API penetration testing, plus demonstrable hands-on work testing AI/ML systems — LLM-backed applications, RAG pipelines, fine-tuned models, multi-agent systems, or production ML inference. The compensation available for this role can be between $130,000 - $160,000 CAD. This range is dependent on experience. There is also a performance-based bonus structure available.
